To International Mission of Hope adoptive families

Let us introduce ourselves…

Rich Stein and Candace Pruett adopted two daughters and a son from the International Mission of Hope (IMH) in Calcutta in 1994, 1996, 1997, respectively. Anna is almost 13, Molly is 10 and Sam is nearly 14. Barbara and Chuck Myers adopted twin daughters from IMH in 1994. Sarah and Rachel are now 12.

You may or may not know Sunil Prakash. Sunil directed IMH from 1977 until 2001. During that time hundreds of children came home from IMH, and Sunil facilitated the homecoming for every one of them. Whether or not you know him, every family with a child from IMH owes an unimaginable debt to this man.

Sunil now resides in the Denver area. Last summer he attended the annual East Indian Heritage Camp (EIHC) in Colorado. During that weekend he reminisced about his experiences at IMH. He shared many stories of his time there, and spoke movingly of the care and devotion that the staff, particularly the Massis, gave to each child. An overflow crowd of parents listened; many did not leave the meeting dry-eyed. During that weekend he also visited with the kids. Amazingly, he remembered them all.

We believe it would be appropriate to honor Sunil for his incredible, selfless efforts through the years, and to acknowledge in some small manner the blessings he has made possible for all of us . We thought a scrapbook containing a page for each child >from IMH would be a fitting tribute. The book will be presented to him at EIHC in July 2007.

If each family creates one page for every child adopted from IMH and sends it to us, we will bind the pages into a book. Include your child's Indian name, date of birth and date of arrival. Be as creative as you want. Photographs of your child through the years will be wonderful. Perhaps include a note from your child to Sunil. For older kids, more than one page might be needed.

Many companies make scrapbook pages and supplies which are available from various craft stores. We will standardize on a 12"x12" page size, but color, style, layout, etc. are up to you. Whatever imaginative way you choose to honor Sunil's work and say thank you will be appreciated.

Whether or not you can attend East Indian Heritage Camp in July, please consider contributing a page to Sunil's scrapbook. Send completed pages to the address below by June 15, 2007. Include your name and phone number in case we need to contact you.

Thank you for your support in honoring a man who has made such a difference in so many lives.
