Actress Lisa B plans to adopt baby girl from disaster zone

Undeterred by the controversy over the missionaries who tried to take a bus full of children out of Haiti, Lisa B is considering adopting a child from a disaster zone.

"We have discussed [it] as far as probably putting our names down in a disaster situation," says the 38-year-old model, who is expecting her third son with her husband, the property tycoon Anton Bilton, in May.

"It is a big decision, of course. When you take on another child's life, for us it would be important to know that that child, we are their life. You can't have that tricky situation where the father in the village suddenly goes 'I want my child back'. That would be heart wrenching.

"For us, a prerequisite would be that we know once we commit to this child, the child would be committed to us."

Lisa, who appeared in Bridget Jones's Diary, adds: "I do want to experience what it's like having a little girl in my life. I admire Angelina Jolie and even Madonna.

"Okay, she might have queue jumped because she's a celebrity, but, then again, you know what? In a way, she's ambassadoring, championing what a lot of people should do.

"They get a lot of shtick about the token baby, but you want to know something? When you go out and witness first hand the alternative life that child is going to have, whatever motives or whatever the reality of it is, anyone who takes on the responsibility of raising a child that is not their own, you have to admire them."
