The baby daughter of an Italian woman who was forced to undergo a caesarean section has finally been adopted, the High Court heard.

Alessandra Pacchieri, 35, saw her child taken by Essex County Council's social services, after she visited the UK for a training course.

The bipolar sufferer was said to be suffering from "paranoid delusions" and found to be unable to care for her child.

The baby, known only as P, was born on 24 August 2012, while Ms Pacchieri's last contact with her child was in May of last year.

The court heard Ms Pacchieri remains committed to seeing her daughter again "one day", after her "bad experience" in England.

The news came as James Munby, President of the Family Division, approved the child's adoption by 'Mr and Mrs X', who P has been living with since November 2013.

Sir James said the pair were "good and loving people" and said the child "was thriving in their care".

The child was "very cheerful", a social worker had reported.

But the judge also revealed Ms Pacchieri had sent a series of heartbreaking emails to Essex County Council, the last arriving just weeks ago.

"It's really sad for me but I pray God everyday that she will gonna be fine and that I will see her again", the mother wrote.

"I would love to meet with her adoptive parents and have a chat with them so please make that happen for us."

On 28 March, Ms Pacchieri said: "I wish for my daughter the best.

"Me personally, I am trying to forget this bad experience I had in England.

"I love my daughter will all my heart and I pray to see her one day again'.

But despite her pleas, Sir James noted he had received "no application of any kind" from either the mother or the Italian government.

In the circumstances, Ms Pacchieri is unlikely to be allowed to see her child before the girl reaches adulthood.
