6. At the 40th meeting, on 10 November, the representative of Brazil, on behalf

of Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Chile, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala,

Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Panama, Peru, Portugal, the Republic of Moldova,

Switzerland, Turkey and Uruguay, introduced a draft resolution entitled “Guidelines

for the Alternative Care of Children” (A/C.3/64/L.50). Subsequently, Albania,

Angola, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Benin, Bolivia (Plurinational State of), Bosnia and

Herzegovina, Cape Verde, Colombia, the Comoros, Costa Rica, Egypt, El Salvador,

Finland, Honduras, Nicaragua, the Philippines, Serbia, Seychelles, Slovenia,

Ukraine, the United Republic of Tanzania and Venezuela (Bolivarian Republic of)

joined in sponsoring the draft resolution.

7. At the 45th meeting, on 20 November, the representative of Brazil made a

statement (see A/C.3/64/SR.45) and orally revised operative paragraph 1 of the draft

resolution by replacing the words “orientations for policy” by the words

“orientations to help to inform policy”.
