Jhansi boy to be reunited with his mom after seven months

BHOPAL: The six-year-old boy from Jhansi, who got lost in Bhopal in May,

will soon be united with his mother.

The secretary of State Legal Service Authority told TOI on Sunday that the

adoption process of the boy had been cancelled and orders to send him

home were passed in late November. There has been a delay in executing

the orders due to lack of proper communication between various wings of

the women and child development department.

TOI had carried the news of the boy on October 21 and November 18,

stating that the had not been united with his parents. Taking cognizance

of the TOI news, the State Legal Service Authority speeded up the

process to unite the child.

Secretary of SLSA, Jabalpur, Giribala Singh said, "After the CWC Bhopal came to know that the child's mother was alive, the

court took cognizance of the case and cancelled the adoption process. The orders to send him back home were passed on

November 29. Lack of proper communication between court and CWC delayed the process of sending the child home."

Justice Ashutosh Mishra of District Legal Service Authority (DLSA) said, "When TOI highlighted the case, we spoke to the

chairperson of Jhansi CWC Abid Khan and the mother of the boy. As the mother of the boy is very poor, members of CWC

Bhopal will arrange to take the boy back home on Monday itself."

Member of CWC Bhopal held a special bench on Sunday after Justice Mishra took cognizance of the case. The orders to hand

over the boy to CWC Jhansi were passed by the CWC Bhopal on Sunday after it summoned the special adoption agency (SAA)

to produce the child before them. "We were feeling helpless as the SAA was not producing the child before us despite sending

them several letters. After the DLSA intervened and the matter came to the special bench, the SAA produced the boy before

us. A medical check-up was conducted and the CWC Jhansi was informed that the boy will be sent to Jhansi with the help of

Bhopal police. The CWC Jhansi will then send the boy to his mother", said Rajeev Jain, member of CWC Bhopal.

The boy had been declared legally free for adoption and his adoption process with a couple from Ahmedabad had begun in

October after the SAA assured the Child Welfare Committee that he was an orphan
