Stichting Rani
Our mission: To provide information and support to relatives from India who for various reasons are looking for their loved ones in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.
Why?
Every year people go in search of their lost relatives in all parts of the world. Often these are children who grew up thousands of kilometers from their biological parents through Adoption and who usually know little or nothing about their original origin.
Rani is one of those children who, after 38 years, finally has a lead to start the search for her biological family. This search is currently in full swing in India and more useful information is becoming available.
The foundation is intended to ensure that left-behind Families in India have access to the knowledge and resources to initiate that quest themselves from their personal position.
Adopted children from Europe have a head start in all respects to start the search for their biological parents. They have the means and can read and write. Moreover, there are usually sufficient financial options and they often have a good environment that supports them. But even for them, this quest is very often a perpetual process with little cooperation.
In India the situation is very different. The parents who for whatever reason have lost contact with their children often come from a low social class and have little or no opportunity to organize a search. The lack of language and reading skills is immediately a major obstacle. Another aspect is the support of their family who sometimes are not even aware of the existence of a foreign child. The culture in India sometimes makes it difficult or even impossible to start a search.
FOUNDATION RANI aims to make all knowledge available to Biological parents and relatives in India. It is unimportant to the foundation whether a child has been given up through voluntary or forced adoption and it is certainly not the aim to bring things to light. In recent years, sufficient items have been highlighted in the media that have raised questions about the adoption procedures followed. Those who want to know more about this can find more than enough information on the internet.
