According to administration sources, Joshua Michael Lawrence, a resident of New Jersey, America, and his wife Raven Elizabeth Lawrence have adopted Sangeet.

On this day, the adoption process was completed in a domestic ceremony at the collectorate premises in Medinipur. The American couple is very happy to have a baby boy.

District Magistrate Khurshid Ali Qaderi says, "Adoption of children is a very important step for the overall development of the society." Additional District Magistrate Kempa Honnaiah says, "If accomplished people come forward in this way, many more will get the affection, love and home of the guardian."

Four years ago, the infant was rescued from a forest in Jhargram. He was a few months old then. How was the rescue? Some people were collecting leaves from the forest. Suddenly they saw that the child was lying down.

At home he was named Sangeet. Medinipur has a government child adoption center (Specialized Adoption Agency, abbreviated as SAA or SHA).

Vidyasagar Balika Bhavan (Girls Home) premises. The center was launched in 2019. According to the administration, more than 60 children have been adopted from this center so far with Sangeet. Some of them went to other countries.

It is to be noted that earlier the rule of adopting children was in operation by order of the court. Later the rules changed. According to the amended rules, children can be adopted on the orders of the District Magistrate. Earlier, the adoption order was signed by the district judge.

An official of the district administration says, "Indian citizens, expatriate Indians, foreigners can also adopt children from this country. But there are separate rules in each case.”

According to administration sources, under the supervision of 'Central Adoption Resource Authority' (CARA), through 'Authorized Foreign Adoption Agency' (AFA), the status of foster parents will be monitored.
