Adoption: A Spanish girl named Sneha, without any information about her background, comes to India to trace her origins. Has Sneha seen her maternal grandmother?

A fifteen-year-old Spanish girl has come to Bhubaneswar, Odisha, in search of her biological mother, wanting to see her at least once before returning to Spain.

A Spanish girl named Sneha, without any information about her background, has come to India to trace her roots. She was adopted by a Spanish couple, and Sneha has been living with them in Spain.

A daughter who came looking for her mother

Sneha and her brother Somu were adopted by a Spanish couple, Gemma Vidal and Juan Josh, from an orphanage in Bhubaneswar in 2010.

The children had sought refuge in an orphanage after their mother abandoned them in 2005 and were eventually adopted by a Spanish couple.

"I need to find my parents, especially my mother, who gave birth to me, and meet her. No matter how difficult my journey is, I will continue. That is why I came to Bhubaneswar from Spain," said Sneha.

When asked why her mother abandoned the two of them, Sneha, who remains silent, replied, "I was one year old when my mother left me and my brother was a month old."

Police and teacher help

The local police and a retired teacher are helping Sneha find her maternal grandmother, Banalatha.

Banalatha and her husband Santosh Das have been traced and are believed to be living in Badamba Narsinghpur in Cuttack district. The police are now continuing their search operation with local authorities there.

Sudha Mishra, a retired teacher who worked at Rama Devi University, is helping to find the names of Sneha's parents.

The teacher said that the owner of the house in Nayapally had provided information about Sneha's parents and that her parents' names were also checked at the police station and the orphanage.

With Mishra's help, Sneha and her brother met Police Commissioner Dev Dutta Singh, who assigned officers Anjali Chotre and Gangadhar Pradhan to track down Banalata Das and Santosh Das.

Anjali said that there is information that Sneha's parents are currently living in Badamba Narsinghpur in Cuttack district and we have requested the police and Panchayat assistants to trace them.

Spanish couple who adopted children

Gemma, who has joined Sneha in her search for her father, works as a yoga teacher, and we need to return to Spain immediately. Sneha has joined a training program and cannot stop it.

"If we don't get Banalatha in the next 24 hours, we will come back to Bhubaneswar in March," he said.

Sneha's brother Somu was adopted by Gemma and her husband, while Gemma's husband and Somu remained in Germany for work.

Both children were neglected by their mother in a rented house in Bhubaneswar, then placed in an orphanage, and finally adopted by a German couple.

Sneha works as a researcher in the field of child education. She is praised as the light of our home and a very responsible, educated girl.
