Welcome
Our philosophy
For the L'Envol© team, adoptive parenting is different from biological parenting.
You don't become a parent, whether by filiation or adoption, in a single day; it is built gradually throughout the child's development and the parents' lives.
L'Envol © is a post-adoption service
L'Envol © aims to support and help members of the adoptive family and those around them. It was created in 2006 by the managers of the adoption organization À La Croisée des Chemins , a non-profit organization, with which it shares premises.
For the L'Envol © team , adoptive parenthood is different from biological parenthood. You don't become a parent, whether by filiation or adoption, in a single day; it is built gradually throughout the child's development and the parents' lives.
Adoptive parents, even the most loving, may sooner or later encounter reactions or situations that leave them feeling overwhelmed. This phenomenon is completely normal, since it is a very particular experience that is not necessarily understood by the family, social and professional network that surrounds the family. The adopted child has a past, most often unknown to his parents, which includes at least one breakup, that of his birth mother, sometimes several breakups, sometimes also deficiencies, neglect and/or abuse. Adoptive parents often have a past that includes suffering and mourning their fertility, as well as a very long wait for a child who sometimes becomes mythical, restorative, perfect. This past necessarily influences the present and can influence the future. It is important to take this into account when we are interested in the particularities of adoptive families.
