LOS ANGELES, May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- The Los Angeles office of Edelman, the

world's largest independent public relations firm, has been retained by the

U.S. Fund for UNICEF to promote the 50th anniversary of the Celebrity Goodwill

Ambassador program.

The Celebrity Goodwill Ambassador program began when beloved American

entertainer Danny Kaye traveled from country to country providing aid and

support on behalf of UNICEF. During the past 50 years, others have followed

in Mr. Kaye's footsteps including Audrey Hepburn, Roger Moore, Mia Farrow,

Sarah Jessica Parker, Laurence Fishburne and Tea Leoni, making UNICEF a

pioneer in working with celebrities to raise awareness for their cause.

Edelman will work closely with UNICEF to spread awareness through several

campaigns leading up to a December gala celebration at Beverly Hilton Hotel.

"Having just celebrated our agency's 50th anniversary, Edelman is

well-prepared to mark UNICEF's own 50th anniversary of their Celebrity

Goodwill Ambassador program," said Gail Becker, general manager and executive

vice president of Edelman's Los Angeles office. "Through a program designed

to celebrate UNICEF's impact over the last half-century while looking forward

to the opportunities ahead, Edelman will increase public awareness with the

goal of engaging more supporters for this vital organization."

"The U.S. Fund has had successful experiences working with Edelman in the

past," said Diane Whitty, senior vice president, U.S. Fund for UNICEF.

"Through a very competitive selection process, Edelman's talented staff and

passion for our cause made them our top choice as a partner in this venture."
