Additional info about the history/documents (as far as I know - and I think you know at least part of this history as well):

· There were allegations by Preger, they landed at BIA office in NL as well as with the Ministry of Justice in NL.

· This was “researched”, in two parts:

o The Dutch parents were asked to write statements/reports about how the children ended up in proper families and were taken well care of. I believe that all the parents responded, all very worried about that poor man who had helped them so much with getting their beloved children, and who was now accused of such terrible things.

o There was a ‘research party’ that went to Tongi, we also have that official report (this is not attached…will have to look further to find it. It’s been published in the WOB with blanks, but we received the original with all names visible). Bhuyan took part I think, and MAK as well. Outcome was that all parents that initially complained, now admitted that they willingly gave up their children. Same story as in the letter dated 8.12.80 by Bhuiyan that’s in the attached package)

· We have indications that those parents were put on the TdH payroll, to keep silent.

I’m almost 100% certain that we received these documents during one of the first visits at Terre des Hommes in The Hague in 2017. TdH-NL (Carel) expressed willingness to research the “Bangladesh adoption case” because their name was mentioned in Sigrid’s newspaper articles and donors started asking questions about it (some even withdrew as donor). And of course TdH wanted to help us adoptees as well, blablabla. Their aim was to research (establish) whether they had involvement – officially or through persons on their payroll acting 'outside their function'. So they gave us the relevant documents they found in their files (as attached), and conducted an internal research (interviews by Gideon with people in Bangladesh and in the Netherlands that were involved in the adoptions). A report about this ‘TdH research’ never came, but they shared the information. It's also taken up in Sigrid’s report.

Please remain vigilant about the confidential nature of this message and the attached documents and use the information only as a background for your work in Bangladesh. I'm concerned that the information can be traced to me and I don't want to compromise my 'relation' with Shapla nor my entrance into Bangladesh. I trust you understand ;-)
