Fiom is the center of expertise in the field of unwanted pregnancy, distance & adoption and related questions. We offer information and help with unwanted pregnancies, information and aftercare in the field of adoption and guide people in their search for biological family in the Netherlands and abroad. We also manage the KID-DNA Database, which enables a match between a donor child and an anonymous donor.

The starting point of working at Fiom is the right of self-determination of unwanted pregnant women, the right of a child to know where it comes from and to grow up while retaining its own identity. In addition, we recently started with the establishment and design of the Expertise Center for Intercountry Adoption . We do all this with approximately 85 passionate employees from our offices in 's-Hertogenbosch and Houten and from our home workplaces.

Fiom has the Dutch representation of the International Social Service (ISS) network in its organization. ISS is an international social work organization with headquarters in Geneva and a network in more than 100 countries. Within Fiom, the ISS department, with the help of its international network, is involved in international searches for first- or second-degree relatives of the seeker (both adoption-related and non-adoption-related).

Case Manager International Searches (ISS)

24 hours a week

What does the job involve?

You conduct international searches for relatives. You do this from a multidisciplinary team of colleagues, including social workers, policy officers and the national search team. You are approached by international correspondents who refer a search case to the Netherlands, or you refer cases to international correspondents for conducting searches all over the world.

What does your working day at Fiom look like?

You start the day by going through new case referrals and reading emails from colleagues, international ISS correspondents and customers

You discuss new and current cases with your ISS colleagues and determine how you can best support the searcher in his or her search.

You then conduct an intake interview with a new client (seeker) to collect all available information about the family member you are looking for and to explain the search process in the relevant country.

After lunch you have a Teams meeting with a counselor and a colleague from the national search team about the developments and challenges in one of your current cases. Together you will find ways to move forward, taking into account what is best for the seeker and the person sought.

Over a cup of tea, you type an email in Spanish to an international correspondent with whom you are working on a search

At the end of the day, take some notes for the search improvement memo you're working on. You will continue with this tomorrow.

Who are you?

You are an enthusiastic team player. You are interested in cultural differences and speak your languages. You find it a challenge to find information through organizations at home and abroad and thus help your client in his or her search for family.

In addition, we think it is important that you:

Have a minimum HBO level, preferably in a legal direction

Knowledge of social, political and legal developments.

Knowledge of the Dutch social card

You can express yourself very well orally and in writing in English and Spanish and/or French

Have a service-oriented attitude with a business approach

Can work on a project basis

What do we offer?

A temporary appointment for 12 months with a view to a permanent appointment.

Salary in accordance with the CAO Social Work, scale 8 (= € 2,867 to € 4,086 gross per month with full-time employment of 36 hours per week).
