It is found that around 4,000 Sri Lankan children are living in Denmark, Netherlands, Sweden, and UK as adopted children.

Recently, during a TV interview with a Netherland TV channel, Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne said that the Ministry will initiate a mechanism in order to help those adopted children to find their Sri Lankan mothers.

Accordingly, DNA tests will be carried out through the University of Colombo.

Meanwhile, a group of adopted Sri Lankan children in the Netherlands has prepared a database of Sri Lankan children in the Netherlands.

This was further discussed during a meeting between Minister Senaratne and Netherland's envoy in Sri Lanka Joanne Dornewaard held in Colombo yesterday (21).

Two of the youths who had involved in preparing the database also attended this discussion.

They have issued paper advertisements in an attempt to find their biological mothers and it was found that around 50 women have so far come forward to them.
