Social worker killed adopted daughter, ‘punched and slapped’ child for ’30 minutes’: Police

A 39-year-old mother in Hawaii is accused of killing her 11-year-old adopted daughter, allegedly punching and slapping the child for a half hour straight until she ultimately died.

Sina Pili was indicted by a grand jury and taken into custody Friday on one count each of manslaughter, endangering the welfare of a minor, and persistent nonsupport in the slaying of Azaeliyah Pili-Ah You, authorities announced.

According to Lieutenant Deena Thoemmes of the Honolulu Police Department, officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel on Dec. 22, 2023 responded to a report of an unresponsive juvenile female at a home in Laie. The fire department was first on the scene and apparently found Azaeliyah’s father performing lifesaving procedures on the victim at the direction of the 911 dispatcher.

Paramedics rushed the victim to Kahuku Hospital where she was pronounced dead. A determination about the manner and cause of death were delayed pending further testing.

As a form of punishment’: 8-year-old forced to repeatedly jump on 110-degree trampoline without water until she died of dehydration

A father in Texas has admitted to killing his 8-year-old daughter with his wife by forcing the youngster to jump repeatedly on a scorching hot trampoline, which apparently had a surface temperature of approximately 110 degrees at the time.

Daniel Schwarz, 48, didn’t care about the blistering August heat when he forced his child, Jaylin Schwarz, to keep jumping on the trampoline that day in 2020 at their home in Odessa, according to prosecutors. Schwarz pleaded guilty Friday to manslaughter and was sentenced to serve 18 years in prison after accepting a plea agreement. The Ector County District Attorney’s Office announced the deal in a Facebook post, saying it came after Schwarz’s wife, Ashley Schwarz, was previously convicted of capital murder in May 2023.

“(Schwarz) has pleaded guilty to Manslaughter in the tragic death of his adopted daughter,” the DA’s office said. “The case dates back to August 29, 2020, when law enforcement responded to a medical emergency involving an 8-year-old girl. Investigators later discovered that Daniel and his wife, Ashley, had forced their daughter to jump on a trampoline for an extended period without food or water as a form of punishment. The trampoline’s surface temperature was approximately 110 degrees at the time.”

With nearly half a century of tradition in child protection and adoption, Pisingos Foundation was suspended.

By: Hernández Quevedo Norbey

In order to help homeless children, in May 1968 a group of 22 couples decided to create Pisingos Foundation in Bogota. A laudable initiative which for more than four decades became the benchmark for protection of thousands of poor children and an international model for the adoption of infants. However, this week the philanthropic legacy was challenged because millionaires unholy financial dealings resulted in the loss of the operating license and the suspension of legal status for six months.

SC berates Allahabad HC’s callous approach in granting bail to persons accused of child trafficking; directs States to implement BIRD’s report...

“If any newborn infant is trafficked from any hospital, the immediate action against the hospital should be suspension of licence to run the hospital over and above other actions in accordance with law”. ...

Supreme Court: In a significant ruling, while considering the instant appeals filed by the kith and kin of the children who came to be trafficked, praying for cancellation of bail granted by Allahabad High Court to the accused persons; the Division Bench of J.B. Pardiwala* and R. Mahadevan, JJ., set aside the bail orders passed by the High Court and the accused persons were directed to surrender before the committal court and the committal court in turn shall remand them to the judicial custody. Additionally, the Court directed that once charge is framed by the Trial Court in individual cases, the concerned Trial Court shall proceed with the recording of the evidence preferably on day-to-day basis and complete the proceedings of the trial within 6 months. The Court also directed the State Governments to implement recommendations made by Bharatiya Institute of Research and Development (BIRD) to combat child trafficking cases.

The Court strictly remarked that the High Court dealt with the bail applications in a callous manner which eventually led to the abscondment of many accused persons. The Court said that these accused persons are a threat to the society wherever they are in the country. The Court further expressed its disappointment with the State in not challenging the bail orders granted by the High Court.

Subsequently, the Court conveyed a message of caution to the nation, particularly the parents, the Court said that they should remain extremely vigilant and careful with their children. A slight carelessness or negligence or laxity on their part may prove to be extremely costly. The pain and agony which any parents may have to face when the child dies is different from the pain and agony that the parents may have to face when they lose their children to child trafficking gangs. The Court strictly said that if any newborn infant is trafficked from any hospital, the immediate action against the hospital should be suspension of licence to run the hospital over and above other actions in accordance with law. “When any lady comes to deliver her baby in any hospital, it is the responsibility of the administration of the hospital to protect the newborn infant in all respects”.

Project reunites mothers and children anywhere in the world

MANAUS (AM) – The Missing Persons Brazil and Netherlands Institution (PDBeH) will return to Brazil once again to hold the fourth edition of the project “DNA Mothers of Brazil,” offering registration kits for the International Database. The registration process will take place at the auditorium of the Amazonas State Secretariat of Justice, Human Rights and Citizenship (Sejusc) on January 16th, starting at 3 pm, and on the 17th, starting at 9 am.

Mothers who gave their children up for adoption, unaware of their whereabouts, and wish to find them but don’t know where to begin their search can participate in the registration. According to Anna Catharina, director of PDBeH, this is the most effective way to reunite families.

“Genetic data cross-referencing is 100% reliable, precise, and delivers results monthly. It’s a way to discover family ties without the need to search in person for where these families are. Once registered, a mother has the chance to find the person they’re looking for, provided that individual is also entered in the Database,” she said.

Anna Catharina further explained that the project came to this conclusion after research revealed that over half of adopted children living outside Brazil are already registered in the International Database.
